One of Those Moments

In the name of clarity (and so I don't suddenly exude any sense of coolness in any way) this IS Misha Collins and that IS the cover of my upcoming debut novel. It is NOT however one of those candid shots all writers dream of having - happening upon someone reading their book. This photo op was a present from my amazing and deeply twisted friends as a birthday/'Your book's coming out!' celebration. The book cover is actually wrapped around a book of ee cummings poetry. If one is perfect and two is a win-win and three is a trifecta, what is foursome of my favorite things in one place called? "This photo."

Okay, with the disclaimer out of the way, I'm going to go back to my happy place and look at the picture where Misha Collins reads Flowertown while The Monkey rests peacefully against his lovely cheek. Life is sweet.

LOVE the picture (and the monkey) oh yeah...AND THE BOOK COVER!!!! Have you blown this up and framed it????

Inquiring minds want to know: what was his reaction to posing with a monkey on his shoulder?

I couldn't have dreamed of a better way to post the finalized cover than this. Misha Collins was very gracious and took the whole episode in stride. When I asked him if he'd also hold my monkey (a difficult phrase to say without giggling) he answered with a completely straight face - "Nothing weird about that." It was a moment of unadulterated nerdgirl bliss.

Love the photo, Shiela, and I can't wait to read Flowertown! And thanks for inspiring me. I haven't even looked at my blog for over a year! Why is it I can meet deadlines for classes and clients, but not for myself???

Blogging is like exercise (I'm told.) You have to make it a habit. Clearly, I'm not a habit-maker! This was a great motivator though. And yes, I have the greatest friends a person could hope for. I hold them at a price above rubies!
